Tonight I was lucky enough to attend a fantastic launch party for my friend’s second book.
Sarahjane Funnell (who I met on Twitter, random I know!) was celebrating the release of her second children’s book – Phillipa Fairy Cake and the Secret Pets Tea Party.
Her debut book was released in 2012 and is called Phillipa Knickerbocker Glory and the Icecream Castle.
Tonight’s launch was held at the very glamorous Athenauem Hotel in Mayfair, and thank goodness the venue was dog friendly because it was a party perfectly suited to the theme of the book itself – a dog tea party!
The lovely Sarahjane made a donation to Dogs Trust to mark the release of her second book, so the event had some special four-legged guests.
They were absolutely gorgeous. Anyone who knows me, knows I love dogs, so I was having a fantastic time! One of the dogs, a four month-old, was tired towards the end of the party and decided to climb into her owner’s handbag to try and catch up on some sleep.
As well as marking my friend’s very special occasion, it was lovely to chat to everyone there. I love going to events and meeting new people (and dogs).
If you have children I would highly recommend Sarahjane’s books. They are really cute stories, with beautiful collage-style illustrations. They make lovely gifts too!
Well done Sarahjane. You are so talented and I’m mega proud of you x
